Women agitators belonging to Bodo organisations today blocked NHs 31 and 15 in Assam for nearly 10 hours and announced a 12-hour shutdown of the state on September 11 demanding a separate Bodoland state.

The protesters, who assembled under the aegis of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), National Democratic Front of Boroland and People's Joint Action Committee for Boroland Movement blocked the NH-31 at Kajalgaon and NH-15 at Orang to press their demand.

The agitation lasted from 5 am till 3 pm in the afternoon.

ABSU president Pramod Boro said all the three groups have jointly called for a 12-hour Assam Bandh on September 11.

"If still the government does not do anything to meet our demand, it will be followed by mass hunger strike and railway blockade programme," he added.
