NIA constable, 2 others held for illegal possession of arms

A constable of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and two others were arrested for allegedly illegally possessing a revolver and four live cartridges, police said here today.

According to Ambajogai police, they carried out a raid at a lodge in the city this morning and three accused identified as Sunil Shreedevdatta Kumar (35), Dilbag Baljeet Singh Singh (32) and Bansilal Tulshiram Rai (25), all from Haryana, were held for illegal possession of a revolver and cartridges.

"During the interrogation, Sunil told us that he is NIA constable and is currently on leave. His revolver is personal, but does not have a national permit," Superintendent of Police (SP), Navvenchadra Reddy said, adding that Sunil's identity card has also been recovered.
