NIAT celebrates its 59th anniversary

The Naval Institute of Aeronautical Technology (NIAT), the largest Aviation Technical Training Establishment in the country, located at Naval base here today stepped into its Diamond jubilee year by celebrating its 59th anniversary.

The institute imparts Aviation Technical Training to technical officers, sailors and aircrew of the Naval Air Arm, Indian Coast Guard, besides training personnel of friendly foreign Navies.

A slew of activities were lined up to commemorate the anniversary. An in-house cultural show of talent was organized by staff and trainees, which was witnessed by a large number of service personnel and their families, the Navy said in a release here.
 

The chief guest, Rear Admiral K Ravi Kiran, Admiral Superintendent of Naval Ship Repair Yard awarded the best instructor trophy to Kamlesh Kumar Jha, Master Chief Petty Officer.

Various activities conducted for the culmination of this event included community outreach activities such as social service at Don Bosco Sneha Bhawan, Palluruthy, painting competition for children, besides two days cycling expedition to Kombanad, where a special cleanliness drive was also undertaken as part of 'Swachch Bharat Abhiyan'.

The institute is headed by Commodore Sanjeev Dureja.
