The National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases (NICED) today tied up with the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) with an aim to focus on medical research on diseases which have assumed or are expected to assume endemic proportions in West Bengal.
The two institutions signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the intent of addressing, bringing to board and undertaking cutting-edge research on those diseases, that have assumed or are expected to assume endemic proportions, BCCI president Ambarish Dasgupta said.
While immediate attention will be paid to hepatitis-C research as an area of concern, in longer term this agreement is expected to facilitate community based health interventions and development activities.
Underserved population and geographical areas in the state will be brought under the folds of attention through this agreement, he said.
