Nickel prices were up by 0.56 per

cent at Rs 903.90 per kg in futures trade today on pick-up in demand from consuming industries at the spot market amid a firm trend in select base metals overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in October moved up by Rs 5, or 0.56 per cent, to Rs 903.90 per kg, in a business turnover of 25 lots.

Also, the metal for delivery in current month gained Rs 4.70, or 0.53 per cent, to Rs 898.90 per kg in 485 lots.

Analysts said besides pick-up in domestic demand from alloy-makers, a firm trend in copper and other base metals in global markets on weakness in dollar, led to the rise in nickel futures.
