Nickel, copper strengthen on global cues

Prices of nickel and copper strengthened up to Rs 5 per kg on the local non-ferrous base metals market today on stockists buying in line with a firming global trend.

Traders said stockists buying in line with a firming global trend where Nickel climbed, leading gains in industrial metals, amid speculation that demand for the metal used in corrosion resistance in stainless steel will increase, mainly boosting the sentiment.

Meanwhile, nickel for delivery in three months rose 0.8 per cent to 13,866 dollar a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, nickel and copper mixed scrap rose by Rs 5 and Rs 2 to Rs 1,070-1,071 and Rs 438 per kg respectively.
 

The following are today's metal rates per kg:

Zinc ingot 119-125, nickel plate (4x4) 1,070-1,071 gun metal scrap 227, bell metal scrap 229, copper mixed scrap 438, chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 138, lead imported 136, aluminium ingots 146, Aluminium sheet cutting 147, aluminium wire scrap 149 and aluminium utensils scrap 146.
