Prices of nickel and copper fell up to to Rs 4 per kg at the local non-ferrous base metals market today, largely in tune with a weak trend overseas.

Traders attributed the fall in nickel and copper to a weak global trend where nickel declined on speculation of higher stockpiles in China, the world's top user.

Meanwhile, nickel for delivery in three months fell by 0.8 per cent to USD 14,575 a tonne at the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, nickel (4x4) and copper mixed scrap fell by Rs 4 and Rs 2 to Rs 1,080-1,081 and Rs 435 per kg, respectively.

The following are today's metal rates per kg:

Zinc ingot 113-119, nickel plate (4x4) 1,080-1,081 gun metal scrap 227, bell metal scrap 229, copper mixed scrap 435, chadri deshi 285.
