Nickel prices fell further by Rs 5 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today in tandem with a weakening global trend.

Traders said sentiments in nickel remained bearish after the metal extended its rout to a six-year low as steps by the Shanghai Futures Exchange to ease delivery constraints added to speculation that supplies will be enough to meet demand from the world's biggest user.

Meanwhile, nickel for delivery in three months fell to USD 10,795 a tonne, the lowest intra-day level since April 2009 on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, nickel plate (4x4) remained under selling and shed another Rs 5 to Rs 1,000-1,005 per kg.
