Nickel falls by 0.9% on muted spot demand

Nickel prices drifted by 0.95% to Rs 592.80 per kg in futures trading today as traders reduced positions, tracking a weak trend at spot market on sluggish demand from consuming industries.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in March declined by Rs 5.70, or 0.95% to Rs 592.80 per kg in business turnover of 136 lots.

On similar lines, metal for delivery in February contracts traded lower by Rs 5.10, or 0.86% to Rs 586.90 per kg in 1,144 lots.

Market analysts said the fall in nickel prices in futures trade was mostly on weak trend at spot market on subdued demand from alloy-maker.
