Nickel prices advanced by 0.43 per cent to Rs 673.40 per kg in futures trading today as traders widened their bets, driven by rising demand at the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in February rose by Rs 2.90, or 0.43 per cent, to Rs 673.40 per kg in business turnover of 44 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in January contracts moved up by Rs 2.60, or 0.39 per cent, to Rs 667.20 per kg in 716 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in nickel futures to widening of positions by speculators on the back of surging demand from alloy-makers in the spot market.
