Nickel prices were rose 0.48 per cent to Rs 905.80 per kg in futures trade today as speculators raised bets amid increased demand from consuming industries in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in April rose by Rs 4.30, or 0.48 per cent, to Rs 905.80 per kg in a business turnover of 64 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in March contracts was trading higher by Rs 4, or 0.45 per cent, to Rs 902.10 per kg in 2,175 lots.
Market analysts said widening of positions by participants on the back of soaring demand from alloy-makers in the physical market pushed up nickel prices in futures trade.
