Amid pick up in demand from alloy-makers at domestic spot markets, nickel prices recovered 1.05 per cent to Rs 643.90 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in September moved up Rs 6.70, or 1.05 per cent to Rs 643.90 per kg in business turnover of 482 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in August contracts edged up Rs 6.30, or 1.00 per cent to Rs 636.30 per kg in 1,869 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in nickel prices in futures trade to fresh buying by participants due to pick up in demand from alloy-makers in the spot market.
