Nickel prices were up 0.51 per cent to Rs 613.50 per kg in evening session in futures trade today as speculators built up fresh positions, taking positive cues from spot market on pick up in demand from alloy-makers.
The exchange remained closed in the morning session for 'Maharashtra Day'.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in May rose by Rs 3.10, or 0.51 per cent, to Rs 613.50 per kg, in a business turnover of 1,877 lots.

Analysts said speculators created fresh positions tracking pick up in demand from alloy-makers at the domestic spot markets, led to the rise in nickel prices at futures trade.
