Nickel prices moved up by Rs 3.30 to Rs 667.40 per kg in futures trade today after participants created speculative positions, taking positive cues from global markets.

Rising demand at spot markets from alloy-makers also supported the upside, analysts said.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in October rose by Rs 3.30, or 0.56%, to Rs 6676.40 per kg in business turnover of 48 lots.

Metal for delivery in September month moved up by Rs 3.20, or 0.49% to Rs 660.90 per kg in 1,172 lots.

Analysts said rise in nickel prices in futures trade was mostly supported by a firming trend overseas as investors awaited US jobs data due Friday and rising demand from alloy-makers at domestic markets.
