Nickel, lead surge on spot demand, global cues

Nickel and lead prices rose upto Rs 5 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today on the back of increased demand from consuming industries amid a firming trend overseas.

Metal traders said apart from a pickup in industrial demand at spot markets, strength in select base metals as investors await outcome of the US Federal Reserve meeting later in the day, supported the rise in the metals' prices.

In the national capital, niciel plate (4x4) rose by Rs 5 to Rs 1,013-1,018 per kg on increased demand from alloy-makers.

Lead ingot and, lead imported rose by Rs 2 to Rs 106 and Rs 107 per kg.
 

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg): Zinc ingot Rs 116-122, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 1,013-1,018, Gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, Copper mixed scrap Rs 406, Chadri deshi Rs 285.

Lead ingot Rs 106, Lead imported Rs 107, Aluminium ingots Rs 158, Aluminium sheet cutting Rs 159, Aluminium wire scrap Rs 161 and Aluminium utensils scrap Rs 158.
