Nickel prices recovered in an otherwise listless non-ferrous metal market here today on stockist buying amidst renewed demand from alloy industries.

The industrial metal was trading almost flat at the LME, recovering from two-week lows touched earlier this week, with trading light ahead of a key US labour report that could shed fresh light on when the Federal Reserve will trim its commodity-friendly stimulus.

Nickel climbed by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 995 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 990.

Copper cable scrap and copper wire bar both inched-up by Re 1 per kg each to Rs 501 and Rs 529.

However, zinc softened by Re 1 per kg to Rs 158.
