Nickel spurts on industrial demand

Nickel prices recovered smartly in an otherwise sluggish non-ferrous metal market here today on sustained demand from alloy industries.

While, select copper and zinc slipped due to subdued offtake from consumer industries.

Globally, the industrial metal copper marked time in early trade ahead of a reading on China's industrial production, which may shed fresh light on its metals demand and counter worries over slowing growth.

Nickel climbed by Rs 10 per kg to Rs 1,100 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 1,090.

Aluminium utensils edged-up by a Re per kg to Rs 137.

However, copper utensils scrap fall by Rs 4 per kg to Rs 431 as against Rs 435 yesterday.
 

Copper armiture and copper sheet cutting eased by Rs 3 per kg each to Rs 458 and Rs 455 from Rs 461 and Rs 458.

Copper scrap heavy moved down by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 473 from Rs 475.

Zinc softened by a Re per kg to Rs 184.
