Nickel prices spurted at the non- ferrous metal market here today on stockists buying amidst robust demand from alloy industries.
Meanwhile, select copper, brass and aluminium eased owing to lower offtake from consumer industries.
The industrial metal was trading steady at the LME in early trade, after touching a five-week trough in the previous session, as the dollar eased from nine month peaks and relieved pressure on the metals complex.
Nickel shot-up by Rs 15 per kg to Rs 1,260 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 1,245 and copper scrap heavy inched-up by a Re per kg to Rs 489.
However, aluminium utensils scrap moved down by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 135 from Rs 137.
Copper utensils scrap, copper sheet cutting and brass sheet cutting all softened by a Re per kg each to Rs 449, Rs 468 and Rs 356, respectively.
