Nickel surges on good demand

Nickel prices surged in an otherwise lackluster non-ferrous metal market today on stockists buying amid good demand from alloy industries.

While, select copper and tin declined owing to lower offtake from industrial users.

Nickel spurted by Rs 15 per kg to Rs 810 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 795 and brass utensils scrap inched up by a Re per kg to Rs 274.

However, tin dropped by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 1,360 from overnight close of Rs 1,365.

Copper cable scrap and copper wire bar edged down by Rs 2 per kg each to Rs 372 and Rs 400 as against Rs 374 and Rs 402 previously.
 

Copper scrap heavy also softened by a Re per kg to Rs 366.
