Nickel surged at the non-ferrous metal market here today on buying by stockists amid rising demand from alloy industries.
Elsewhere, lead and brass sheet cuttings also gained owing to good demand from consuming industries.
Copper prices softened due to sluggish demand from industrial users.
Nickel rose by Rs 10 per kg to Rs 940 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 930 and lead edged up by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 167 as against Rs 165.
Brass sheet cuttings inched up per kg to Rs 355.
However, copper armiture, copper utensils eased by Rs 2 per kg each to Rs 443 and Rs 418 as compared Rs 445 and Rs 420, respectively.
Copper cable scrap, copper billets and copper sheet cuttings inched down per kg each to Rs 454, Rs 482 and Rs 439.
