Nickel and zinc prices rose by Rs 2 per kg on the local non-ferrous base metals market today on stockists buying in tandem with a firm global trend.
Traders said sentiment turned better after nickel advanced to a 14-month high in global markets on concern that escalating tensions in Ukraine may disrupt supplies from Russia amid Indonesia's ban on ore exports.
Meanwhile, nickel for delivery in three months added 2 per cent to 18,275 dollar a metric tonne, the highest level since February 2013 on the London Metal Exchange.
