Rapper Nicki Minaj testified on behalf of her boyfriend, rapper Meek Mill, in a Philadelphia court hearing to try and keep him out of jail.

The "Anaconda" hitmaker's rapper beau was in court in Pennsylvania for a parole violation hearing, and his girlfriend was by his side urging Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley to see what she sees in her man.

Mill, real name Robert Rihmeek Williams, is in trouble for reportedly violating parole in a 2009 drug and gun case by repeatedly changing his court-approved travel schedule, and accompanying Minaj to the recent American Music Awards in Los Angeles without the permission of his probation officer, reported New York Post.

Testifying for almost 30 minutes, Minaj told Judge Brinkley, "He's not perfect but I can't believe how much he's changed," and then told the court she plans to help her boyfriend get organised and fulfil his community service requirements.

Meek Mill is due back in court on December 17.
