Nifty bounces back by 66 pts to close at 8,963.45

The NSE 50-share Nifty bounced back by 66 points to close at 8,963.45 on the back of fresh buying mainly in energy, banking, auto and infra sectors amid strong foreign capital inflows.

Market sentiment was positive as the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council, in its meeting held last Saturday approved the draft CGST Bill and the draft IGST Bill.

The NSE 50-share Nifty rose by 65.90 points or 0.74 per cent to end at 8,963.45 after moving in a range of 8,967.80 and 8,914.00.

Foreign funds bought net Rs 1,528.48 crore last Friday as per the provisional figures issued by stock exchanges.
 

Praveen Nagda, CEO of Peregrine Public Relations Pvt. Ltd said after a dull ending last week, markets opened in green today and ended higher.

Reliance Industries zoomed over 3 per cent.

Major gainers were Reliance Ind 3.72 pct, followed by Tata Motors 2.36 pct, Adani Ports 2.29 pct, Yes Bank 1.94 pct and BHEL 1.83 pct.

However, Grasim fell by 1.66 pct followed by Auro Pharma 1.05 pct, TCS 0.86 pct, Tata Chem 0.74 pct and IDEA 0.72 pct.

A total of 906 advanced, 767 declined while 82 remained unchanged. Total securities that hit their price bands were 110.

Turnover in cash segment fell to Rs 19,153.01 from Rs 21,997.25 crore on last Friday.

A total of 9,079.21 lakh shares changed hands in 7,247,689 trades. The market capitalisation of NSE stood at Rs 11,602,131.34 crores.
