NSE Nifty continued to rule firm for the third consecutive day, surging by another 69 points to close by 8,103.60 on short-covering from operators in view of last day of futures and options December contract.
Shares of commodities, energy, metal, auto, realty and financial sectors firmed up on good buying enquiries.
Meanwhile, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 824.84 crs as per provisional data while, foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 527.06 crore yesterday.

The NSE 50-share Nifty index opened slightly lower at 8,030.60 and hovered in a range of 8,111.10 and 8,020.80 before ending at 8,103.60, showing a gain of 68.75 points or 0.86 per cent.
The Nifty has gained by 195.35 points or 2.47 per cent in three days.
Other indices, like Nifty commodities up by 1.71 pct followed by Nifty energy 1.54 pct, Metal 1.51 pct, Auto 1.42 pct, Realty 1.05 pct and Financial services by 1.01 pct.
A total of 1,080 scrips advanced, 510 declined while 80 remained unchanged. Total securities that hit their price bands were 92.
Major gainers were Grasim 3.99 pct, BPCL 3.98 pct, Yes Bank 3.17 pct, Eicher Motor 2.90 pct and Bosch Ltd 2.37 pct.
However, Adani Ports fell by 1.43 pct followed by Sun Pharma 1.07 pct, Larsen 0.80 pct, Auro Pharma 0.70 pct and Infosys 0.62 pct.
Turnover in the cash segment rose to Rs 19,268.58 crs from Rs 15,703.92 crs yesterday.
A total of 9,960.16 lakh shares changed hands in 7,004,670 trades. The market capitalisation of NSE stood at Rs 10,358,949 crores.
