The CNX 50-share Nifty ended lower by 34.90 points to finish at 8,260.55 on fag-end selling pressure from operators ahead of the expiry of futures and options October contract on Thursday.
Shares of Media, Finance, Energy, Realty and Banking sectors fell on heavy selling pressure.
The CNX 50-share Nifty resumed higher at 8,333.65 and moved in a range of 8,336.30 and 8,252.05 before ending at 8,260.55, showing a loss of 34.90 points or 0.42 per cent.

Stockwise, notable losers were, Asian Paints by 4.76 per cent, Yes Bank 3.24 per cent, Coal India 2.49 per cent, Ultra Cement 1.93 per cent and Bharti Artel 1.92 per cent.
Among the gainers were, Bhel was up by 3.62 per cent, Vedl 2.64 per cent, Bajaj Auto 2.38 per cent, Tata Steel 1.48 per cent and Hcl Tech 1.24 per cent.
Turnover in the cash segment declined to Rs 14,166.45 crore from Rs 15,587.27 crore on last Friday. A total of 7,043.47 lakh shares changed hands in 68,47,281 trades and the market capitalisation of NSE stood at Rs 98,11,222 crore.
