The NSE 50-share Nifty ended flat at 9,173.75 in a range-bound session in view of cautious approach as investors awaiting for new GST draft rules which will be finalised by the Council later today.
Anupam Singhi, COO of William O'Neil India said, "Volatility prevailed in today's session as the benchmark indices moved from negative to positive territories and finally closed flat."
Today marks the end of FY 2017, the year where markets were driven by domestic and international cues like demonetisation, Brexit, surgical strikes and political developments.

The NSE 50-share Nifty opened lower at 9,158.90 and moved in a range of 9,191.70 and 9,152.10 before ending at yesterday's closing level of 9,173.75.
However, Nifty energy index rose by 2.38 per cent and Nifty metal by 1.14 per cent while Nifty Pvt Bank fell by 0.84 pct, Nifty bank 0.82 pct and Nifty Finance Service also by 0.82 pct.
A total of 947 shares ended with gains while 702 finished with losses while 80 ruled steady.
Major Nifty gainers were Reliance Ind 3.95 pct, IOC 2.72 pct, Hindalco 2.50 pct, ACC 1.91 pct and NTPC 1.78 pct.
However, Infratel fell by 3.21 pct, Grasim 1.80 pct, Axis Bank 1.69 pct, HDFC Bank 1.61 pct and Icici Bank 1.60 pct.
Turnover in the cash segment fell to Rs 26,789.18 crs to Rs 42,229.30 crs yesterday.
A total of 14,360.85 lakh shares changed hands in 9,229,464 trades. The market capitalisation of listed firms stood at Rs 11,978,421 crs.
