The NSE Nifty continued its record-setting spree by rising 5.20 points to 8,535.35 and the BSE Sensex gained nearly 42 points to 28,541.22 in early trade today on sustained foreign fund inflows amid a mixed trend at other Asian bourses.

The Nifty moved up by 5.20 points, or 0.06 per cent, to trade at a new life-time high of 8,535.35, breaching its previous record of 8,534.65 touched yesterday.

The 30-share index, which had gained 466.69 points in the previous three sessions, flared up by 41.68 points, or 0.14 per cent, to quote at 28,541.22, shying away from its record high of 28,541.96 reached yesterday.

Stocks of IT, healthcare, consumer durables and auto sectors led gains.

Sustained foreign fund inflows in anticipation of further push to economic reforms by the government in the ongoing winter session of Parliament boosted sentiments, brokers said, adding a mixed trend at other Asian bourses following overnight gains on the US markets also helped the cause.

Among other Asian markets, Hong Kong's Hang Seng down by 0.12 per cent, while Japan's Nikkei was up by 0.38 per cent in early trade today.
