Niger says it has extradited a former high-ranking intelligence official under Libyan dictator Muammer Gaddafi who was "plotting against the Libyan state."
Government spokesman Morou Amadou today said that Abdallah Mansour was extradited last week. He said the West African nation would not tolerate the "destabilisation of our neighbours from our territory."
Dozens of Gaddafi loyalists fled to Niger in 2011 as the autocratic leader lost his hold on power prior to being captured and killed.

While Libya has criticised the presence of Gadhafi loyalists in Niger, Niger has expressed concern about "the terrorist threat" posed by the lack of security in southern Libya.
