Nigeria police free hostage, kill 3 kidnappers

"On Wednesday police conducted a raid in the den of the kidnappers in Ihiala Local Government Area of the state of the state and killed three kidnappers," Bala Nasarawa, Commissioner Of Police in South Eastern Anambra state said,

The house of the suspected kingpin identified as Emeka Ezekwe was demolished during the raid.

State Governor Peter Obi said the police recovered "one rocket grenade, three grenade propellers, two AK 47 riffles, zero six riffle, twenty-seven AK 47 magazines, one hundred and seventy rounds of live ammunition" during the raid.

Meanwhile, in another incident a Turkish national was abducted by unknown gunmen from Nkoro in Rivers State.

 

Spokesman of the State Police confirmed the abduction. He said, "The Turkish expatriate was kidnapped about while on duty at the Unity road."

"We (Police) have taken steps to ensure the early release of the expatriate, as well as the arrest and prosecution of the kidnappers," he said.
