Nigeria's president welcomed to his official residence more than 100 girls who were released by Boko Haram on Wednesday after being kidnapped last month.

The girls, wearing hijabs, were served meals and posed for a photograph with President Muhammadu Buhari today, but they didn't speak with him individually.

Buhari said the government negotiated with Boko Haram to ensure no single girl was hurt and vowed to work for the release those still held by the extremists.

Director-General of State Services, Lawal Daura, said that 105 of 111 girls abducted from the Government Girls' Science Technical College in Dapchi on February 19 were released on Wednesday following "painstaking, backchannel dialogue with their abductors." He said six remain unaccounted for.

The Boko Haram extremists warn against enrolling girls in school.
