Nigerian among 5 held by Delhi Police for drug trafficking

The Delhi Police today said they have arrested five men, including a Nigerian, were arrested for alleged involvement in drug trafficking after drugs worth Rs two crore were recovered from their possession.

The Narcotics Cell of the Crime Branch was assigned the task to launch a special drive for checking the drug menace in Delhi. The Cell took up an initiative against alleged drug peddlers and deployed informers to gain information about such persons, the police said.

On March 14, accused Mohd Shakeel (30) was nabbed from Chand Bagh area in Bhajanpura and 260 grammes of heroin was recovered from him, the police said.

 

On further investigation, drug supplier Safi (42) was arrested from Chand Bagh and 100 grammes of heroin was recovered from his possession, they said.

A Nigerian national, Ifeanyi (38) was nabbed from Vasant Kunj on March 17 and 50 grammes of cocaine was recovered from him, according to the police.

Ravi Kumar (31) was nabbed from Uttam Nagar and one kg of heroin was recovered from his possession, the police said, adding the same day, Ansalam was held from near the Indira Gandhi Stadium on a tip-off and 65 kg of ganja was recovered from him.
