Nigerian drug trafficker held

With the arrest of a Nigerian national allegedly involved in drug trafficking, Delhi police today recovered cocaine worth around Rs 20 lakh in the international market.

The accused, Michael Nwabueze Izedunor (30), a resident of Nigeria, was also a declared offender in a visa expiry case police said.

"In 2011, he and his friend were arrested by the local police in west Delhi's Uttam Nagar for residing illegally in India. He remained in jail for 6 months and after getting bail, he didn't attend the court trial and so he and his friend were declared proclaimed offenders in the year 2014," said DCP (south-east) district Mandeep Randhawa.
 

Acting on a tip-off that the accused was to come to deliver a consignment of cocaine near the Kailsh Colony metro station, a police team laid a trap and apprehended him, police said.

The police recovered 20 gms of cocaine worth around Rs 20 lakh in the international market and a fake passport having his photo in a different name having verified Indian visa stamped on it from his possession, police added.
