A Nigerian national, accused of trafficking drugs, was arrested and 426 gms of heroin allegedly recovered from his possession by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police.

Acting on a tip-off that the accused, Paul Anthony (58), was to deliver a consignment of narcotic drugs, police arrested him from Mahipalpur on Saturday in a raid, Deputy Commissioner (Special Cell) said.

In 2008, he had jumped bail in connection with a case for the possession of 13 gms of cocaine and was declared a proclaimed offender.

During interrogation Anthony disclosed that he was involved in cloth business before getting into the drugs trade in 2007, police said.

In 2007, he came in contact of some Nigerian youths who were involved in drug trafficking in India who told him that this is a good business for easy earnings which drew him to the illegal activity, police added.

Police said further efforts are being made to verify and identify the source of his supply and consumers.
