With winter season setting in the plains of Punjab and Haryana including the capital city of Chandigarh, the night temperatures have started to fall during the past few days.
While the maximum temperatures have been hovering in the range of 26-30 degrees Celsius, the minimum have dropped by few notches of normal level.
Ludhiana today recorded a minimum temperature of 8.2 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal, the MeT Department report said here.

Chandigarh residents have also been experiencing a nip in the air for the past couple of days.
The night temperature at Chandigarh settled at 10.8 degrees, hovering a notch under the normal level, the department said.
In Haryana, Narnaul residents experienced a cold night at 8.2 deg C, down three notches while Hisar's low settled at 8.5 deg C, down two degrees than normal.
Ambala registered a low of 11.5 degree Celsius.
According to the MeT department, the next two days in the states would be mainly sunny but a mist/shallow fog may occur during morning time.
