A CBI official today told a Delhi court, trying the 2G spectrum scam case, that former corporate lobbyist Niira Radia, a prosecution witness in the case, had identified her voice in 61 intercepted telephonic conversations.

CBI's Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Chahal, one of the investigating officers in the case, said the recorded calls were played in front of Radia on May 12, 2011 at her residence and she had confirmed her voice as well as of those with whom she was having those conversations.

"I have been shown voice identification-cum-transcription memo... On the instructions of IO Vivek Priyadarshi, I along with two witnesses of Canara Bank and SI Alok Kumar, visited the residence of Niira Radia on May 12, 2011, along with official laptop and already prepared transcriptions of 61 intercepted calls.

"The recorded conversations of these 61 calls were also available as soft copies in the said laptop. The said recorded conversations were played on official laptop at her residence in her presence as well as in the presence of witnesses and other members mentioned above," Chahal, who was deposing as a prosecution witness, told Special CBI Judge O P Saini.

He testified Radia had made "small corrections" in the transcripts of those recorded telephonic conversations and their prints were taken from a printer installed at her house.

"Niira Radia, after listening to the calls, had tallied the transcriptions and identified as well as confirmed her voice and the voices of other persons with whom she had the said conversations.

"....After making small corrections in some of the transcripts by Niira Radia, the fair copies of those transcripts were printed from the printer installed at her residence," he said.

He added all the 61 transcripts were signed by Niira Radia and others who were present there at that time.
