"The industry is searching for its next big growth engine and technology leaders agree that the next phase of business models could be driven by the rise of SMAC and the convergence of technologies," a KPMG-Nasscom report said.
According to experts, SMAC, a new IT model of convergence, will be the platform that will enable organisations to drive consumerisation of technology.
Stating that the travel segment accounts for 40 per cent in the company's revenue, Thakur said it will remain one of the focus areas for the IT firm.
NIIT is a strategic partner of the global airlines body International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The company provides solutions to a host of global airlines, Thakur said, adding the recent Government move to unbundle air services offers a good opportunity for the business.
The company had reported 5.3 per cent decline in consolidated net profit at Rs 53.1 crore in the December quarter.
