A nilgai was allegedly killed by some unidentified miscreants in Virpur village here, sparking tension in the area, police said today.
The nilgai was murdered by a few unidentified persons late last night in Virpul village under Jarcha police station limits, they said.
Police reached the spot after it was informed about the incident and has sent the body for post mortem, SHO Jarchan police station Ramsen Singh said.
A case has been filed against unidentified persons under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, he said.
