A court in Narsinghgarh town has awarded life imprisonment to nine persons for killing a sarpanch of Bhavarda village over a political rivalry in 2012.

The sentence was handed down by the additional sessions court judge D K Nagle yesterday.

According to prosecution, the accused persons had attacked Babulal and his four associates on February 29, 2012, near Parvati river bridge, following a election-related rivalry.

While Babulal died on the spot in the attack his four associates suffered serious injuries.
