Nine people, including three children and two women, were killed today when a car in which they were travelling collided head-on with a truck near Morbi town here, police said.
The mishap took place early this morning when the victims were going to Jamnagar from Mandvi in Kutch to attend a marriage. The car was hit by the truck coming from opposite direction killing eight persons on the spot while one succumbed on his way to Rajkot civil hospital, they said.
The deceased were identified as Payal Baraiya, Himanshu Baraiya, Rita Makwana, Vishal Makwana, Mukesh Makwana, Bhavna Rathod, Kundan Rathod and Chandrika Rathod.
Efforts are on to identify the driver of the car. A complaint has been lodged and further investigations are on, police added.
