Nine members of a family today tried to commit suicide by setting themselves on fire to protest alleged carelessness of a doctor, police said.
Ashok Chauhan and eight members of his family attempted to torch themselves near an orthopaedic hospital near central bus depot, following which they were detained, they said.
According to police, Ashok Chauhan's seven-year-old son had sustained serious injuries on January 4 and was admitted to the hospital. However, he died the next day and the family members alleged that he succumbed to injuries due to doctor's carelessness.
