With the arrest of two persons from Bhiwandi in the district today, police claimed to have solved a nine-month-old murder case.

Police Inspector Manohar Pawar of Shantinagar police station said that Sayeed Ahmed Abdul Majid Ansari (22), a resident of Gulzar Nagar in the town, had a homosexual relationship with the victim, Faiaz Ismail Qureshi (22).

According to police, Ansari was afraid of their relationship becoming known to others, so he, with the help of his friend Afsar Ali Shoutaf Ali Shah (30), strangulated Faiaz in an empty building on May 13, 2013.

Today Ansari went to the police station and confessed to the murder, police claimed.

He also led police to the murder spot, from where some bones were collected. They have been sent for forensic examination.
