Nine sentenced to life imprisonment

In August 2005, two groups clashed over election-related rivalry and indulged in cross-firing in which several persons were injured of which a man identified as Sanib died during treatment, prosecution sources said here.

FIRs were lodged by both the groups in this connection, they said.

After hearing both sides, Additional District Judge S N Tripathi sentenced Maqsood and three brothers Meer Ali, Anar Ali and Kallu of one side to life imprisonment.

The court also imposed a penalty of Rs one lakh on each of the accused.

The Judge also sentenced Sahuqat, Achchan, Mahfooz Khan and Kamar Miyan of the other side to life imprisonment and imposed a penalty of Rs 51,000 on each of the accused.
