Nine Pakistani Taliban militants, who were planning to attack senior military and police officers, were arrested today after security forces raided a mosque here, police said.

The terrorists of banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were using the mosque to hide since they shifted to the capital from Swat district of Khyber-Pakhtunkha and Bajaur tribal region to target officials of the military and other security forces, police said.

The Security forces conducted the raid on a tip-off about the presence of militants in Sector G-10 of the capital.

"They have been shifted to a secure facility for interrogation," a police official said.

Islamabad is seat of the federal government and diplomatic community and its security has been a key concern due to ongoing military operation in North Waziristan which was launched on June 15.

At least 11 people, including additional session judge were killed and 29 others wounded in March when militants attacked a court complex in the F-8 area.
