The body of a nine-year-old boy, who fell into a 200-feet borewell in Rajasthan's Karauli district on Wednesday, was pulled out today.

Chotu could not be saved despite efforts and the team of rescuers managed to pull the body out of the borewell through a special hook, Superintendent of Police, Karauli, Amandeep Singh Kapoor, said.

Chotu had fallen in the borewell on August 7, while playing near it at Khyarada village of Karauli, about 155 kms from here.

The body was stuck at a depth close to 150-feet, the police official said.

After the incident, digging near the borewell was started with the help of earthmovers and diggers but the rescue work got affected due to rains, Kapoor said, adding that therefore the plan to rescue the boy by digging the soil parallel to the borewell could not work well.

"Army was roped in yesterday whereas an Emergency Response Team of the police was called from Jaipur and some locals were also engaged in the rescue operation. The body was pulled out through a hook," he said.
