NINL completes execution of Sundergarh, Keonjhar mining lease

After specific clearance from the Union Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF), the mining lease of Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL) has been executed, the company today said.

The mining lease was executed on January 11 after obtaining necessary approval from the Odisha government, NINL said in a statement here.

The mines deed agreement, the Mines Development and Production Agreement (MDPA) and registration was signed with the District Magistrates of Sundergarh and Keonjhar, respectively for 50 years of lease of 874 hectares.

NINL would start mining operations after obtaining Forest Stage I and II clearance from the MoEF, it said.
 

The mine lease of NINL, with 102 million tonnes reserve, was spread over 874 hectares of Sundergarh and Keonjhar districts.

In November 2016, the MoEF granted the environment clearance with proposed production capacity of 2.0 million tonnes Per Annum (MTPA), it said.

NINL, which is promoted by MMTC Limited, IPICOL, OMC and other government agencies, has set up an 1.1 million tonnes integrated Iron and Steel plant at Kalinganagar in Duburi area of Odisha's Jajpur district.

Presently the products are Steel Billets, Pig Iron and LAM Coke along with Nut Coke, Coke Breeze, Crude Tar, Ammonium Sulphate and Granulated Slag.
