Nirupam files plea against Patanjali land allotment

Press Trust of India Mumbai
Mumbai Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam today filed a plea against Ramdev's Patanjali Ayurveda, alleging major irregularities in the allotment of over 600 acres land to the company for setting up a food park in Nagpur.

Nirupam, in his petition, has alleged that the Maharashtra government flouted all tender norms to allot the land to Patanjali. He also claimed that the land is part of a reserved forest area and was allotted at a concessional rate causing heavy monetary loss to the public exchequer.

Nirupam has alleged that while the current market value of the land is at least Rs 100 crore per acre, Ramdev's Patanjali Ayurveda received it at a throwaway price of Rs 25 lakh per acre.

He has urged the court to restrain Patanjali Ayurveda from using the land until final order, besides an inquiry into the allotment.

The petition will come up for hearing in due course.
