Japanese auto major Nissan today appointed Peyman Kargar as chairman of its Africa, Middle East and India region and Kalyana Sivagnanam as the regional vice- president for marketing and sales for these markets.
Nissan said the new appointments will be effective April 1 and these appointments indicate the significance of the region for Nissan's global business.
Kargar, 49, joins Nissan from its alliance partner Renault, where he has worked since 1996 and replaces Christian Mardrus who takes up the newly-created position of senior vice-president for digital transformation for Nissan.

Kargar will lead the regional management committee and be responsible for business strategy and performance for both Nissan and Datsun brands with all the functional heads reporting to him.
Sivagnanam will also the president of Nissan Middle East and in his new role he will oversee all marketing and sales in the region. He will also assume overall responsibility for Nissan's business in the Middle East including Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
Nissan sells over 60 models under the Nissan, Infiniti and Datsun brands. In fiscal 2015, it sold over 5.4 million units. It also sell the world's best-selling all-electric vehicle the Nissan Leaf.
