Srinagar-based National Institute of Technology (NIT), which was in the news recently after a confrontation between outstation and Kashmiri students, has decided to establish the Delhi chapter of Alumni Connect to provide a platform to globally disbursed alumni.
One of the 31 NITs in the country run by the Union Human Resources Development Ministry, the campus of the institute erupted in April last over a cricket match. There were disturbances for about 10 days.
An alumni meet was organised successfully in Srinagar in May last year and now it has been decided to have a Delhi chapter which will be opened on September 17.

During the meet in May last year, the alumni had presented an ambulance to the NIT and pledged money for scholarships in addition to personal time to teach students on life and learning skills.
