Addressing a gathering at the stadium in the town, Kumar said "Some people are trying to remove me from power. I am seeking the rights of the 10 crore people of Bihar and some people are instigating their supporters to throw stones.
"However, the wish of my adversaries will not be fulfilled as they have been rejected by the people of Bihar," Kumar said at the tightly guarded stadium.
He said that he was not seeking personal benefits, but was striving to get the special status for Bihar so that it caught up with the rest of the country in development, in contrast to leaders who organised 'lathi rallies' during their stint in power, referring to the RJD.
Stating that he was unruffled by violence and protests during his public meetings, Kumar said, he would continue to fight for the special status demand for betterment of the state till his last breath and claimed that the people were behind him on the issue.
The Chief Minister criticised the Centre for not giving a rehabilitation package for the flood-affected people of Koshi and said that the state government was forced to borrow funds from other sources to carry out rehabilitation work.
He said it was the Centre's duty to take measures to prevent flooding in the rivers originating from Nepal, but it has not taken any initiative.
