A thematic play titled 'Chakravyuh', featuring famed stage actor and former MP Nitish Bharadwaj, who performs the role of Lord Krishna was staged at the Balayogi Auditorium in Parliament premises today.

The artists from The Films and Theatre Society staged the mythological tale of Abhimanyu, son of Arjuna and Subhadra, who gives his life fighting the Kauravas in the Chakravyuh battle formation.

Krishna's rendition of the significance of Abhimanyu's martyrdom, which quells the doubts and anxiety of Abhimanyu's family and various interpretations and wisdom derived from the rendition were the themes.

The performers brought to the fore values and philosophy depicted in Mahabharata. The cause of women empowerment was put forth, subtly and through effective erudition by Krishna during his interactions with Uttara, Abhimanyu's wife.

Chakravyuh has been performed by artists in Delhi, NCR, Lucknow, Jaipur and Shimla in the past.
